The TF suction filter is a coarse strainer mounted at the pump inlet, protecting the pump and downstream components from the larger debris that enters a reservoir. Model TF-40 is one nominal size of the range.
Construction
The strainer uses glass fibre (domestic or imported), wood-pulp paper or metal mesh on a metal centre tube, sealed with fluororubber or nitrile. It can be mounted on the side, top or bottom of the tank; the housing has a self-sealing valve and a bypass valve, so an element change does not drain the reservoir.
Where it is used
Suction-side protection on hydraulic power packs, machine tools, press and metallurgy lubrication systems, where 80–180 µm filtration is the right compromise between pump protection and pressure drop.
Selection notes
Match the model to the pump inlet flow (16–1000 L/min across the series), keep the working pressure at or below 0.6 MPa, and confirm the mounting type and connection when ordering a complete filter rather than an element.
